Silverpoint is a traditional drawing material used in the past and still by some artists today. It consists of a length of silver wire held in a mechanical pencil drawn across a prepared ground. It is a linear drawing material. Silverpoint drawings have a delicate feel to them. They also have a beautiful silvery look to them that is lost in reproduction. It can be a demanding media in the fact that the marks cannot be erased from the paper. I find it to be a wonderful way to make drawings.
